Easy ways to avoid the ponytail dent

Ponytails are a girl’s best friend. Apart from being easy to wear, they are one of the most versatile hairstyles out there. However, more often than not, our beloved ponytails also leave an ugly dent in the hair that is difficult to get rid of.

When you tie a tight, high ponytail, you will notice an annoying dent in your hair when you let your hair loose. Here are some easy ways to avoid the dent in your hair.

Don’t tie hair when it’s wet

Hair is at its most fragile state when it’s wet. That’s why it is recommended to not rub your hair aggressively against the towel or comb it when it’s wet as this can be quite damaging. Similarly, wait for your hair to dry completely before tying it up into a ponytail.

Use a spiral hair tie

If you don’t have a spiral tie yet, go and get one right away! The spirals create uneven pressure on your hair and prevent that ugly dent. What’s more, it doesn’t slip away like other hair ties and gives a tight grip. And that’s not all, it is also quite durable. If it becomes loose simply soak it in hot water for a minute and watch it magically contract into its original size and shape.

If you’ve got really thick hair and none of the above tricks worked for you, there’s only one thing left to do, grab a straightener and straighten those strands. Sometimes you don’t have the time to struggle with or look for ways to fix that dent. So the smartest thing to do is straighten your hair and get going.
