The perfect skincare routine to revive dull and tired skin

Written by Tashika TyagiAug 04, 2021

By now, you know that you must spare a few minutes every day to pamper your skin and indulge in a skincare routine as failing to do so can have a direct effect on the look and feel of your skin. If you’ve been noticing your skin looking dull and tired of late, it’s time to start practicing a skincare routine more religiously. To give you a head start, we have mapped out the perfect skincare routine to help revive your dull and tired skin. So, scroll on...

Step #1: Cleanse your skin twice a day

It’s essential to wash your face twice a day to eliminate the gunk and product buildup on the skin. But steer clear of harsh cleansers as they can strip the natural oils from your skin, leaving it dull and dry. What you need instead is a mild face wash that will get rid of the impurities without making the skin dry. Our go-to is the Pears Ultra Mild Facewash - Pure & Gentle. It’s enriched with pure glycerin and natural oils that clean your skin while gently moisturising it in the process.

Step #2: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week

Exfoliating removes dead skin, dirt buildup and unclogs the pores, revealing radiant skin underneath. It also helps your lotions and potions penetrate deeper into the skin to work their magic and deliver better results. That’s why it’s super important to exfoliate your face 1-2 times a week. And not just any scrub will do. What you need is a scrub that sloughs away dead skin cells while also brightening your complexion — like the Pond’s Bright Beauty Sun Dullness Removal Daily Facial Scrub. It’s formulated with gentle white and red silica beads that offer deep exfoliation to get rid of blackheads, tan, dead skin, dirt and impurities to give you instant glow and shine. Plus, the vitamin E and B3 in it keep the skin moisturised.

Step #3: Use a brightening sheet mask

Who doesn’t love sheet masks? They’re packed with potent ingredients and do such a great job of nourishing the skin and making it soft and glowy. While there are no dearth of options in the market, your best bet is to pick one that brightens the skin like the Pond’s Brightening Sheet Mask With Vitamin C And 100% Natural Pineapple. This sheet mask is free of baddies like parabens and alcohol and is packed with serum vitamin, and 100% natural pineapple extracts to give you clear skin and an instant glow.

Step #4: Add a Vitamin C serum to your routine

Serums are your skin’s best friends! They come loaded with powerful ingredients that target specific skin concerns. When it comes to tackling dullness, a Vitamin C serum should be your go-to. Our favourite is the Lakmé Vitamin C+ Serum. It’s a lightweight formula enriched with Kakadu Plum — the world’s highest source of Vitamin C. Apart from fighting dullness, it also tackles several skin problems like ageing, pollution and sun damage, leaving you with brighter, smoother and even-toned skin.

Step #5: Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Don’t skimp on moisturising your skin, ladies! If you’re skeptical of using a moisturiser thinking that it might make your skin even oilier, we get it. But instead of skipping this step entirely, all you need to do is get your hands on a lightweight formula like the Lakmé 9 To 5 Matte Moist Mattifying Moisturiser that will nourish your skin without making it feel sticky. This mattifying hero by Lakme consists of witch hazel and green tea extracts that moisturise the skin and keep it looking matte for up to 12 hours.

Step #6: Apply sunscreen religiously

Let’s understand it this way. You can do all the above steps right and take utmost care of your skin, but then when you skip applying a sunblock (irrespective of whether you’ll be indoors or outdoors), you are back to square one! A broad-spectrum sunscreen like the Lakmé Sun Expert Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 will protect your skin from sun damage (the number one cause of skin dullness) and keep your skin looking healthy and radiant. So slather on a generous amount on your face and neck after moisturising and before applying makeup.
