We know you carefully check the expiry dates on all your makeup products before buying. Your mascaras don’t sit in your vanity for more than six months and your lipsticks two years. But what about that hair straightener and dryer you’ve been using for years? Did you know them breaking or dying isn’t the only tell-tale sign that they have expired? We’ve listed some signs below that will tell you if it’s time to say goodbye to your hair styling tools.
Damaged or scratched plates
If the plates of your straightening iron looks damaged with scratches, dents or the coating has worn off it’s time to buy a new one. Using a damaged iron will not only ruin the hairstyle you’re aiming for but it will also snag and pull on your hair.
If the LED light on your iron is flickering it means something is wrong. When heat styling tools reach their end the temperature is affected. Under heated or overheated styling tools won’t perform the job and cause damage to your hair and scalp.
It’s risky to even switch on hair styling tools whose wires are frayed or exposed. Throw it right away and bring in some new styling tools to save yourself from damage.
