90s babies will remember the rage that crimped waves were back then. Crimpy hair was the noughties’ biggest pop hair trend and we recently spotted it on the 2019 runways! Though, it would be wrong to call it a comeback; it is certainly a trend on the rise again. Ultra-defined textured curls from root to tip look extremely gorgeous and if you think it’s a hard-to-achieve hairstyle, we’d like to differ.
Crimped waves are easy to achieve and we will show you how. Read on to know 3 easy-peasy ways to get perfectly crimped hair...
No heat, no bother
You don’t need no drama to get the crimpy curls. Start with clean frizz free hair. Section your hair into half taking from above the ears. Divide the two halves into further 3-4 sections and tightly braid them till the tip. Sleep on it overnight. Open the braids in the morning and do not brush. Separate the locks using fingers and spray the Toni&Guy Casual : Sea Salt Texturising Spray.
Using the U pins
Not a fan of braids? Get the loose crimps using U pins. You might be having your mom’s bun pins lying in a drawer. Grab a few of them and get started. Divide your hair into half and then 5-6 sections from each half. Place a U pin near the scalp. Take one section and wrap the strand around two prongs of the pin alternatively. Secure it with a hair tie at the end. Repeat same for all the sections. Run the hair wrapped in pins through the flat iron holding it for 5 second. Open the hair and finger brush hair to separate.
With a flat iron
To the salon like crimped hair, grab your flat iron. Apply a lightweight styling mousse to hold the styling. Take a small section of hair and place the straightener tilted inward. Hold for 5 seconds and slide the iron 1 inch below and tilt the iron outward. Keep on sliding it one inch at a time alternatively bending it down and up till you reach the tip of the strand. Repeat for all hair or crimp only 2-3 strands for a boho chic look. Finish with spritzing some Toni&Guy Finishing Shine Spray and you’re done.
