We hate to be the one to break it to you but your duty doesn’t simply end on washing your hair. The health of your hair largely depends on how you treat your hair after the wash. Many of us just go about our day after a hair wash without even knowing what we’re doing wrong. There’s a prefect post-wash hair routine that you need to know about, and we’re here to tell you what you need to do.

what you should do after your hair wash

#1 First and foremost, wrapping your hair in a towel is not recommended. It makes the hair frizzy and can damage the cuticles. Instead, wrap it in an old, soft cotton t-shirt.

#2 Once your hair is damp, apply a serum or leave-in conditioner gently on your mane to retain the moisture and natural shine. It also helps in detangling the strands and, thus, breakage is less when you comb.

#3 Detangle your hair using your fingers and then with the help of a wide-tooth comb.

#4 Apply heat-protecting cream before straightening, curling or blow drying your hair. It protects your hair from the intense heat damage, retains luster and gives a better result in styling.

#5 Tying wet hair is a compete no-no. Wet hair is fragile and can lead to breakage when tied. And don’t get us started with the weird ponytail shape you get on tying wet hair.

#6 Make sure you dry your hair completely before going out. Wet hair tends to get frizzy and damaged when exposed to pollutants and dirt. Use a scarf to cover if you don’t have time to dry it out completely.
