Maintaining beautiful looking, healthy hair can be a task! Whether it’s because of colouring your hair too many times, because of too many styling products or just genetics; we have a few tips to bring your damaged hair back to life.
Here are seven simple tips to care for damaged hair...
- Cover your hair while travelling
- Use cold water to wash hair
- Dry fruits
- Use a t-shirt in place of towel
- Trim every 2 months
- Co-wash your hair (skip shampoo but not conditioner)
Cover your hair while travelling
Travelling can make your hair rough and give you a thousand tangles in no time. If you travel a lot daily, make sure to tie your hair in a ponytail or braid and tie a scarf on your head and around your hair. this will help keep your hair protected from pollution and wind.
Use cold water to wash hair
This one is a little tough in winter! But you must try to settle for lukewarm or cold water for your hair wash. Because hot water dries and dehydrates hair no matter what shampoo or conditioner you use. If you can’t bear cold water in these months, simply push your hair to the front and pour a few mugs of cold water only on your hair. Cold water makes hair shine and makes it much softer.
Taking care on the outside is not enough. You have to also provide nutrients from within. The best way to make your hair healthier is by consuming dry fruits. Dry fruits like walnuts, dates and almonds are ideal for the betterment of your hair. Almonds contain high magnesium which helps reduce hair fall, dandruff and frizz.
Use a t-shirt in place of towel
One of the most common mistake is using a towel a bit too roughly to dry your hair. Instead of a towel, use a cotton t-shirt to wrap around your hair. A cotton t-shirt is very effective when it comes to control frizz and tangles.
Trim every 2 months
We all love long hair but having long and healthy hair at the same time is difficult. Split ends can cause brittle hair which break easily and it can stunt hair growth. With a regular trim, you can achieve longer and healthy hair.
Use oil before swimming
If you’re a swimmer, make sure you use an oil mask on your hair every time you go for a swim. Use deep nourishing oils like avocado oil, almond oil, coconut oil etc. Cover your hair from root to tips and tie it tight for maximum protection from the chlorine in the water. And don’t forget your swimming cap!
Co-wash your hair (skip shampoo but not conditioner)
Use a conditioner even on days when you don’t want to wash your hair. If your hair gets wet, condition it. This keeps your hair shiny and tangle-free. Also because you will be using conditioner more often, you end up using less products on your hair, than you normally would on your hair wash day!
