Due to the rising number of cases in the country, several states have imposed a lockdown to curb the spread of the virus. This means that salons, along with other establishments, will remain non-operational for the next couple of weeks, at least. So if your haircut appointment got cancelled and you’re bothered by those pesky split ends, fret not, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to trim your split ends at home. All you need is the sharpest pair of scissors you can find at home, plus a little patience, and you’re ready to get rid of all those split ends without losing the length. So, without any further ado, let’s get started…

How to trim your split ends at home during lockdown

Step 01: Start with brushing your hair to get rid of any knots and tangles. Then, divide your hair into sections, depending on the thickness of each strand. For example, people with thin hair can create slightly bigger sections, but those with thick hair should create smaller sections to better manage your hair

Step 02: Next, gently but firmly, twist each section from the top and keep twisting as you go down. Once the entire section is twisted, you’d notice certain strands sticking out. Sift through these strands to locate the split ends and snip off the part from where the hair has split.

Step 03: Repeat this process on each section of your hair. Those of you with shorter hair may find looking at your hair a little difficult. But you can always use a mirror for better visibility.

Step 04: Next, undo all the sections and twist them in the opposite direction. And repeat Step 2 again. This will ensure that you can, target and snip most of your split ends.

Step 05: Once you are satisfied with the results, simply undo the sections and brush your hair.
