As a makeup addict, I really love how makeup brushes and sponges work for that flawless look. But as a self-proclaimed lazy girl, I find maintaining them a luxury that I am not quite willing to invest in. I mean who has the time to wash and arrange makeup brushes every week? Not me for sure!
Therefore I find myself using the good ol’ method of applying makeup – my finger tips. Trust me, it works to get your makeup done in no time, and if done right, can provide pretty amazing results too. Just a teeny tiny detail to keep in mind – don’t forget to sanitise your hands before applying makeup with your fingers.
Now that you’re ready, read on to find out how to use your fingers to perfectly apply almost all your makeup products for a flawless finish.
Before you start, ensure that your face is completely clean. After cleansing with a gentle face wash, follow it up with a toner. Finally, don’t forget to apply a pea-sized amount of primer before moving on to the next step.
Now, there is a secret to achieve a glowing, sculpted complexion – massaging. Take the tiniest amount of facial oil and massage it into your skin in an outward, lifting motion. This will ensure that the products absorb better into your skin and reduce puffiness by aiding in lymphatic drainage.
In order to apply foundation, take a really tiny amount of your foundation on the back of your hand. Next, dot it all over your face and apply in an upward and outward direction. This will give just the right amount of coverage as well as glow.
When it comes to concealer, use a little bit of the product only on those areas that you think need an extra bit of coverage. Do not spread the product with your fingers. Instead use light dabbing motions to blend. For the most flawless finish, opt for a stick concealer instead of a liquid formula.
Switch your usual powder blush for a cream one. In case you don’t have a cream blush at hand, use any pink shade of creamy lipstick to achieve similar results. Take a bit of the product on the back of your hands and rub until it melts a little. Next, dab it onto your cheeks for the most beautiful and natural stain. The heat from your body will melt the product and give you the desired results.
To start with the base of your eyeshadow, take a little of the colour on your index finger and apply it to your eyes. This will provide just the right amount of control. Next, to blend and give that smokey effect, use your middle finger. Start from the centre of the lid and work your way towards the outside. To highlight the inner corner of your eyes, use your pinky finger to get a precise application.
It may not always be necessary to use your fingers to apply lipstick, but if you are looking for just a stain, then your fingers are perfect for the job. Simply take a little bit of the lipstick onto your ring finger and start by applying the colour onto the centre of your lip, working your way outside. Once you are satisfied with the pigment, simply smack your lips together.
