There is no running away from our monthly period cycles. The cramps and mood swings can be painful. However, it’s essential that we don’t let our skin bear the brunt of these days and take some precautions to keep it healthy. Here's a quick low down on how you can take care of your skin while you are on your period.
Prevent dullness

Prevent dullness

Periods can sometimes make your skin look dull. However, you can do your bit to enhance that glow. You can give yourself an indulgent facial massage with almond oil. Take a few drops of almond oil and massage your face in upward, circular strokes. This will help stimulate blood flow and make your skin soft and radiant. Wash off your face with warm water after about 20-30 minutes.

Exfoliation is key

Exfoliation is key

It's essential that you remove the dead skin from the surface of your skin. You can make a simple exfoliant at home using gram flour or besan and turmeric. Massage this onto your face and rinse off to get that shiny, glow!

Balanced diet

Balanced diet

Your diet directly affects your skin. Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables will reflect on your skin. So, watch your diet on those days. Since your skin in anyway sensitive during this time, piling on junk food will aggravate inflammation and add to those nasty breakouts. So, control those food cravings and opt for something healthier, instead.

Do not experiment

If you want to try new products, avoid it during your periods. The hormonal imbalance during these days can cause the skin to react in different ways. It's essential that you stick to your regular products so that your skin does not get irritated. There can always be a room for experimentation later.

Have a good night!

It's essential that you don't compromise on your sleep time during your period. Your body needs all the rest it can get. So skip binge-watching your favourite series. Sleep it out instead—your skin will thank you for it!
