Each time I look at a celebrity smiling, I always end up wondering how they have such perfectly aligned, white teeth? There’s never any discolouration or stains on them. While there is little we can do to help you with the alignment of your pearly whites (you need your dentist for that), we can surely help you figure out some amazing tips to whiten them.
And no, these don’t require you to run to your dentist, as these remedies are all sitting on your kitchen shelf. Read on to find out the five best at-home remedies that will help you whiten those teeth in no time!

Coconut oil pulling
Oil pulling is a traditional Indian folk remedy meant to improve oral hygiene and remove toxins from the body. It involves swishing around a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth, making sure you 'push' and 'pull' it through the gaps between your teeth. Do this about 20-25 times. Oil pulling with organic coconut oil has more oral care benefits that you can possibly count. It removes plaque and bacteria exposing whiter, brighter teeth. Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and can also help to reduce gum disease.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
Another great remedy that’s totally effective yet safe is using a thin paste made by mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. This works because baking soda is mildly abrasive, which helps gently buff away surface stains. Hydrogen peroxide is the bleach used most often in commercial teeth-whitening products, and it bleaches stains from teeth to restore their natural, white colour.

Activated charcoal
One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to brighten and whiten teeth at is to use activated charcoal. It whitens teeth by absorbing plaque and other tooth-staining substances, leaving your teeth cleaner and brighter. Simply dip a clean wet toothbrush in activated charcoal powder (it is easily available at most beauty stores), and brush your teeth as you normally do. Ta-da! Pearly, white teeth!

Powdered milk
Another easy way to whiten teeth at home is to make a paste by mixing powdered milk and your normal toothpaste. This combination effectively removes superficial stains and helps to correct any discolouration.

Fruit peel
Peels of fruits such as bananas and oranges provide amazing teeth whitening properties. Simply rub your teeth with the inside of a banana peel or orange peel and see the difference. This technique helps because the peels are rich in magnesium, manganese and potassium which recharge the enamel. Brush your teeth a few minutes later and use the peel at least twice a week.
