How to give yourself a quick pedicure at home

Even though we haven’t been stepping out of our homes too often due to the lockdown, our feet still undergo a lot of wear and tear daily. It leads to problems such as dry and cracked heels, weak and brittle nails and overall dull-looking feet. Not only do they cause discomfort, but they also make us steer clear of open-toed footwear too. Ugh, annoying.

The only way to keep these problems at bay is by pampering your feet to an at-home pedicure. Don’t have the time for an elaborate one? You’re in luck. The one we’re about to take you through is quick and can be done in five simple steps. Check it out.

Step 01: Cleanse

Step 05: Nail paint

Just like any other beauty routine, even a pedicure starts with cleansing. Make sure to wash your feet with a gentle body wash and some warm water. Remove every last bit of nail polish from your toenails using the Lakmé Nail Color Remover with Vitamin E.

Step 02: Soak and scrub

Step 05: Nail paint

Next, take some lukewarm water in a tub or basin, add a few drops of your shampoo, a handful of bath salts (optional) and stir well. Soak your feet in this mixture and allow them to rest in there for about 10-15 minutes. After this, start by taking one leg out of the water and gently exfoliate dead skin cells, dirt and grime on the feet using a brush or pumice stone. Repeat the same on the next feet.

Step 03: Cut and file

Step 05: Nail paint

Apart from softening all the dirt and dead skin cells, all the soaking also softens your nails. So, dry your feet and carefully cut your nails to the length you prefer. Also, this is time to file your nails and give them the perfect shape you desire. Make sure to smoothen out the harsh edges to minimise the chances of snagging and chipping.

Step 04: Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Step 05: Nail paint

Now that your nails are cleaned, cut and filed, grab your bottle of cuticle oil (you can even use olive oil if you don’t have cuticle oil on you) and gently massage it into your nails and the skin surrounding it. As for your feet, take a generous amount of the Dove Nourishment Radiance Rich Body Lotion and massage it into your feet to lock in hydration.

Step 05: Nail paint

Step 05: Nail paint

Finally, it is time for our favourite part – nail paint. Pick your favourite nail paint, or find a new favourite in the Lakmé Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Color range. They have 44 stunning shades that dry down to a high-gloss finish to give you gel-like nails at home (without spending a bomb, of course).
