Did the egg come before the chicken or vice versa? We may never find out the answer to this question, but thankfully, we do know the answers to some others. Like the order in which to apply your morning skincare. Applying the products in a certain order helps your skin better absorb them and get their full benefits. After cleansing and toning, the basic rule is to apply products starting from the thinnest in texture to the heaviest. Want to know more? Read on.
- Step 01: Cleanser
- Step 02: Toner
- Step 03: Serum
- Step 04: Eye cream
- Step 05: Spot Treatment
- Step 06: Moisturiser
- Step 07: Sunscreen
Step 01: Cleanser

The first step of any skincare routine is always cleansing. Begin by using a gentle makeup remover like the Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water that helps remove all traces of makeup without any pulling or tugging. Next, use the Pond’s White Beauty Daily Spotless Lightening Face Wash to ensure that your face is completely clean before you start applying products.
Step 02: Toner

Make toners a part of your skincare routine ASAP. They not only help to balance your skin's pH levels, but also tighten pores and reduce the effects of environmental damage to the skin.
Step 03: Serum

Next up, serums. From acne and pigmentation to brightening and anti-ageing, there is a serum meant specifically for your skin concern. They are packed with active ingredients that sink deep into the skin and target the deeper layers to effect changes.
Step 04: Eye cream

Dark circles or not, an eye cream is really important to your routine to help maintain the delicate skin and protect it from environmental factors. We recommend Dermalogica Total Eye Care as it is enriched with chemical-free SPF to prevent UV damage and helps minimise dark circles and reduces puffiness.
Step 05: Spot Treatment

This is a really important step for people with acne-prone skin. Spot treatments have potent acne fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and help reduce acne and prevent acne scars. Dab the treatment just on the problem areas, and allow to dry before proceeding.
Step 06: Moisturiser

Your moisturiser follows next. Instead of choosing a generic moisturiser, we recommend using one that is meant for your skin type and addresses your specific skin concerns. Choose a moisturiser with antioxidants or other potent ingredients like hyaluronic acid to repair, hydrate and improve your skin’s texture.
Step 07: Sunscreen

Last up, sunscreen. If you want to prevent premature ageing, tanning, dark spots and other skin issues, you should never skip (or skimp) this step. Use a sunscreen that offers broad spectrum UV protection of SPF 30 or above. If you have oily skin, use a gel-based product, but if you have dry skin, then we recommend using a cream-based sunscreen.
