5 foolproof hacks to help your deodorant last longer

Deodorants have become a necessity for us rather than just a skincare product. The weather, constant running around and our food choices (sorry, not sorry) makes it our go-to product to save us from sweat and smell. But then there are days, when even after applying deodorant and antiperspirants, you still sweat and embarrass yourselves with body odour. The reason for this ladies is not always your deodorant. Most times it can be the way you apply your deo.

Read on to know how exactly you should apply it to make your deodorant last longer...

Clean canvas

It’s best to apply deodorant after you’ve dried your armpits completely. If you’re applying it right after shower, make sure you dry armpits with towel and then apply deodorant. Layering it with water or products makes them ineffective.

Shake it off

Shake the deodorant can for 8-10 seconds before applying it on your body. It makes sure the contents are evenly distributed in the bottle and it is not sprayed in its concentrated form.  Do this every time you apply it.

Keep the distance

It is recommended to hold the can at least 15 cm from skin while applying it. If it is held very close to skin, it will cover a lesser area with too much product and hence would be wasteful. A distance of 15 cm ensures right amount which makes it last long.

Avoid using on affected skin

Don't ever apply deodorant or antiperspirant immediately after shaving armpits or on broken skin. Some deodorants contain alcohol and harsh chemicals which not only irritate the affected skin but also would be ineffective.

Deodorant prevents odour while antiperspirant prevents sweat. Antiperspirants actually help in reducing sweat which is the root cause of body odour. And your deodorant works on covering the smell of excessive bacteria and giving a pleasant smell. If you tend to sweat a lot use a strong antiperspirant or go for a product that has both like Rexona Aloe Vera Underarm Odour Protection. If you don't sweat much, a deodorant might be enough.
