We all follow an elaborate skincare routine for our face. We religiously pamper it with the best of products and even treat our skin to regular facials and beauty treatments. But do you extend even half of this care to the skin on the rest of your body?
If the answer is no, then it’s about time you start. Because it’s not just the skin on your face that requires TLC; the skin on rest of your body is equally susceptible to sun damage, ageing and other skin woes. Wondering where to start? Let us help you. Here’s how to build a simple yet effective body care routine…
Step 01: Cleanse
Just like your face, you need to thoroughly clean the skin on the rest of your body too. Use a gentle body wash at least once a day to clean your entire body and get rid of the dirt, oil, sweat and other impurities.
Step 02: Scrub
Just like you would exfoliate your face, it’s necessary to slough dead skin from the rest of your body too. The best part? The skin on your body is far tougher than the skin on your face and hence you don’t need to worry about scrubbing too much. Use a scrub that’s specifically meant for the body for best results. Additionally, you could even alternate between dry brushing and bath salts; don’t forget to pay special attention to your elbows, knees and heels.
Step 03: Never ever skip a moisturiser
Cleansing (coupled with exfoliation) works wonders to keep your skin healthy, but without enough hydration, the skin will look dry, dead and lacklustre. Therefore, it is important that you slather on a generous amount of moisturiser right after a shower, while your body is still slightly damp. This will help the moisturiser sink into your skin and deliver better hydration.
Step 04: Apply sunscreen
The rest of your body is equally susceptible to sun damage. Thus, it’s important to apply sunscreen to every part of your body that is exposed to the sun such as your neck, top of your hands and feet, etc.
