- 01. Use a minimum number of products
- 02. Avoid wearing a full face of makeup
- 03. Always use a moisturiser
- 04. Don’t exfoliate your skin
- 05. Reassess the ingredients in your products
01. Use a minimum number of products
It is very common to think that because your skin doesn’t feel as good as usual, you need to slather on more products. But guess what, this will only end up irritating your skin further, and that’s not the road you want to take. Instead, using minimal products and sticking to ingredients and formulas that you know work well, will be super helpful.
02. Avoid wearing a full face of makeup
Do you spot a zit and immediately cover it up with layers of makeup? Avoid doing this and keep your makeup as light as possible. A tinted moisturiser and a bit of concealer should you give you a decent amount of coverage, and will also ensure that your skin has a chance to breathe and heal without any further irritation.
03. Always use a moisturiser
If you have oily skin, then the first thing you wouldn’t mind skipping is your moisturiser, isn’t it? But this is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when it comes to skincare. Using a good quality moisturiser that works for your skin type helps to calm your skin and repair it. Look for a creamy, hydrating moisturiser if you have dry skin and pick a lightweight, gel moisturiser if you’ve got an oily skin type.
04. Don’t exfoliate your skin
If you feel like your skin is irritated and sensitive, then skip exfoliating your face for a day or two. This is because exfoliation, if not done correctly, can end up further damaging your skin and worsening the situation. Therefore, it is best to skip this step in your skincare routine until you see visible improvement.
05. Reassess the ingredients in your products
If you notice that you’re having one too many bad skin days, it’s best to do a label check for the ingredients in your skincare products. A lot of times, ingredients such as alcohol, fragrances, paraben, etc. irritate your skin over time. You could stop the use of products that contain these ingredients and see if it that makes a difference.
