A step-by-step guide to Cleansing-Toning-Moisturising at home

It doesn’t matter if you have clear, flawless skin or are constantly at war with acne, blemishes, oiliness, redness or pigmentation; a regular cleansing-toning-moisturising routine is a must! A C-T-M routine tailored to your skin type will keep it looking healthy and prevent breakouts. So really, there is  no excuse for skipping (or skimping) on this routine if clear skin is on your agenda.

Make it a habit by using our easy five-step guide to acing the C-T-M routine!

Step 1

Splash water on your face, preferably room temperature water. Very cold water or very hot water are best avoided as they leave your skin feeling dry and tight.

Step 2

Apply a small amount of a lightweight, hydrating cleanser such as the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash that is enriched with vitamins and promises to replenish and nourish skin. Use small circular motions to gently massage the cleanser into your face and avoid going too close to your eyes. Take a full minute to work the cleanser into the smaller areas like around the nose, the hair line and under the jaw and get every bit of residue makeup out.

Step 3

Pat your skin dry using a microfiber towel or a soft cotton cloth. Simply blot away the water from your face instead of rubbing vigorously. Make sure you have a separate towel for drying your face because you don’t want dirt and bacteria from your body transferring onto your face (ew!).

Step 4

Take a cotton pad and soak it with facial toner. Gently apply it over your face while staying away from the eye area. Toner balances the pH level of your skin and helps it better absorb the skincare that comes next. Get your hands on the Lakmé Absolute Pore Fix Toner which helps tighten pores and is alcohol-free. Or you can simply spritz some rose water all over your face before reaching out for a moisturiser.

Step 5

Your CTM routine is incomplete without a good moisturiser. No matter what your skin type, you need to moisturise all through the year. If you find most moisturisers feel heavy on your skin, make sure you use a light moisturiser like the Ponds Light Moisturiser Non-Oily Fresh Feel. Dot the cream on your face and gently massage the product into your skin. Enriched with vitamin E, this product will leave you with soft skin and a fresh glow that’ll last all day.
