Among the many natural skincare ingredients out there, few are absolute superheroes that work for all skin types. One of such amazing ingredients is oatmeal. From soothing irritated, sensitive skin to moisturising dry skin, exfoliating oily skin and keeping acne at bay, oatmeal can do it all.
You can use this wonder ingredient in your skincare routine to get rid of pesky skin issues and get spotless, healthy skin. Packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and a natural cleansing compound called saponins, oatmeal can really change your skincare game.
To know how you can incorporate oatmeal in your skincare routine and reap its beauty benefits, keep reading.
1. Make an oatmeal face mask

Take about three tablespoons of finely crushed oatmeal in a bowl. Add one tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of warm water or milk. Mix well to make a smooth paste. Apply it on cleansed face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and follow up with a moisturiser. This face mask works for acne-prone, dry and normal skin type. Treat your skin with it once a week for hydrated and blemish-free skin.
2. DIY oatmeal scrub

For oily and combination skin, you can use oatmeal as a homemade scrub. It gently exfoliates and removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin moisturised and oil-free. Grind oatmeal into coarse powder. Add two tablespoons of honey and mix well. Cleanse your face, pat dry and apply this mixture. Massage the scrub gently to get rid of dirt, oil and dead skin. Wash off with water and moisturise. Use this oatmeal scrub twice a week if you have really oily skin and once a week for combination skin.
3. Take an oatmeal bath

If you have sensitive skin that is prone to inflammation, rash and itchiness, you can take an oatmeal bath to soothe your skin. Mixing oatmeal in your bath water helps soothe and calm rashes, sunburn, itchiness, dryness and other sensitive skin problems. Fill a bath with lukewarm water and add one cup of oatmeal into it. Soak in the oatmeal water for about 10 minutes and rinse off with fresh water. Pat dry and moisturise while your skin is still damp. Do this every alternate day to relive your skin of irritation and once every week for moisturised and healthy skin.
