Using a peel-off mask is a fun process. From making sure it's evenly applied to waiting for it to dry and finally peeling it off to see all the gunk and dead skin that has come off is so satisfying. 01Mistake 01: Overusing them
The thing with peel-off masks is that they tend to be as satisfying as a hot shower or a glass of wine after a long day at work. But if you end up overusing your mask, then you're committing a serious skincare mistake. If you don't let enough days pass before applying another peel-off mask then you risk drying your skin, causing irritation as well as clogging the pores. Therefore, be careful and DO NOT apply your peel-off mask more than once a week.
02Mistake 02: Using a mask that doesn’t suit your skin type
With so many peel-off masks available in the market, picking the one that is perfect for your skin type can be a difficult task. Don't pick a mask blindly; always read the ingredients and see if they are meant for your skin type. If you have dry skin, go for masks that have moisturising properties such as hyaluronic acid or glycerine. If you have oily skin, pick masks that contain charcoal or clay.
03Mistake 03: You leave it on for too long
Do not keep the peel-off mask on your face longer than the time suggested. If you do so, it can cause major skin irritation, especially if your mask is not fragrance-free. It's best to set a timer on your phone to make sure you know when to remove the mask in case you get caught up doing something else.
04Mistake 04: Aggressively peeling the mask off
Even though peeling off such masks is really exciting and satisfying, we urge you to control your excitement and be really gentle while doing so. Aggressively pulling it could damage the surface of your skin and leave it red and irritated.
05Mistake 05: Waxing or threading just before masking
When you wax or thread, you are removing a layer of dead skin. So when you apply a peel-off mask over it (which also does the same thing, by the way), you obviously end up leaving your skin sensitive and raw. This results in exposing your skin to a lot of bacteria leading to breakouts and a number of other skin issues. Hence, leave an ample amount of time between the two beauty treatments to be on the safer side.
