It takes constant care to manage your skin. It can easily get damaged from the pollution, dust or the sun. Make sure to use a sunscreen with SPF before stepping out, no matter what the weather is like outside.
Facials can be time consuming and expensive. With a little help from us, you can maintain your skin in between your facial appointments, so you don’t need them as often. So first things first, if you are using a bar of soap on your face, stop! Skin care starts with a face wash and we have all wondered at some point or another, which is better, a fancy face wash or just plain soap?

Is using soap for the face worth it?

The skin on your face is more delicate compared to the skin on the rest of your body. The thickness of your skin varies, with the skin on your face being much thinner, it requires gentle care. Especially the skin around the eyes is very fragile. Therefore, it is very important to use products that are gentle on your skin.

Facial skin has a lot of pores and if not taken care of properly, it is prone to acne, blemishes and pimples. The natural oils produced by your face act as a protective barrier against environmental factors. By contrast, body soaps are designed to scrub off dirt as well as the natural oils on the skin. Soap bars cause an imbalance to your skin’s natural pH level, thus making it dry! Your skin is naturally acidic, and it should maintain a pH level between 4 and 5.5. But, a regular bar of soap is alkaline and cannot be used on your face. The alkaline nature of soap can lead to dryness and strip away moisture from your delicate facial skin. Using a bar of soap on your face can result in flakiness and itchiness, thus making it more prone to breakouts.

Is using a face wash worth it?

It is. A good face wash maintains the pH level of the skin, while taking away that dirt from it. A face wash does not strip away the natural oils from the face. Pick a face wash that suits your skin type.

If you have oily skin, you can choose a face wash that is oil-free and will help you get rid of the excess oil and retain the necessary moisture your skin needs.

If you have dry skin you can opt for sulphate-free face washes that prevent your skin from getting dry but moisturising it at the same time!

And for sensitive skin, use a non-comedogenic face wash which is light on your skin.

The best part about a face wash is—they are compact, making it easy to carry on the go! So, do we recommend the use of a face wash? Sure we do!
