While a double chin is most commonly associated with weight gain, that isn’t necessarily the reason for that extra fat under your chin. Your age, genetics and diet can also contribute to this sagging skin. But whatever the cause is, these 5 exercises will help you reduce double chin.


1. Roll your neck

To reduce the excess fat accumulated under your chin, roll your neck. This basic exercise helps reduce the fat on your chin and neck.

Sit or stand straight and lower your chin towards your chest then roll your head from side-to-side. Hold the pose for 5 seconds on each side.

You can do this exercise anywhere and as many times as you want throughout the day.


2. Tennis ball chin roll

Tennis ball exercise is a common way to tone your muscles and will help reduce excess fat from under your chin.

Place a tennis ball under your chin and lower your face so the ball is pressing against your throat. Press your chin tightly to the ball and hold it for 5 seconds.

Do this twice a day to lessen the double chin.


3. Chewing gum

This is a popular and extremely effective method of reducing double chin. When you chew a gum, it gives your facial muscles a workout, tightening them. Chew one gum daily for at least an hour to benefit from the exercise. It will not only help with saggy chin but will also define your cheeks.

So, pop in your favourite gum and get chewing!


4. Stick out your tongue

Bring out your inner child stick out your tongue as far as you can and swish tongue from side to side. Hold the pose for 10 seconds.

This is a yoga asana too, called The Lion’s Yawn, which will massage your throat muscles and strengthen them, thus improving the elasticity of skin.

Practice this 2-3 times daily for best results.


5. Stretch your chin

This exercise is the quickest way to get rid of your double chin. It gives a workout to your face and neck muscles and tightens your skin.

Sit or stand straight and tilt your head towards the ceiling. Now pucker your lips and press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Retain the position for 5 seconds and slowly lower your head.

Doing this 5-6 times a day will help tone your chin muscles faster.

Tip: Massage your skin every night with olive oil to tighten your skin. The vitamin E in this oil improves skin elasticity and the massage helps with re-distributing the fat in the chin.
