How to lighten dark elbows and knees using natural ingredients

Are your elbows and knees darker than the rest of your body? Do you avoid wearing short dresses and sleeveless clothes because of this discolouration? It is probably because of friction, accumulation of dead skin cells, prolonged exposure to the sun or even hormonal imbalance.

The absence of oil glands in these areas is also responsible for causing this darkness. However, that shouldn’t stop you from wearing what you wish. We have found some easy home remedies that will help lighten your dark elbows and knees.

Curd and gram flour

Aloe vera and milk

Curd has skin lightening and moisturising properties, whereas, gram flour gently exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells and reveal a healthy glow.

To prepare this DIY remedy for dark elbows and knees, mix equal parts of gram flour and curd to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to affected areas and allow it to dry. Wash off with warm water, scrubbing gently.

Olive oil and sugar scrub

Aloe vera and milk

Dark elbows and knees are a result of dryness and accumulation of dead skin cells. Scrubbing the area with gentle, homemade scrub will help solve the problem.

Mix a tablespoon each of olive oil and sugar and scrub the area in circular motions. Olive oil will moisturise the skin at the deepest level and sugar will exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and eventually lighten skin tone.

Another effective and natural home remedy to correct uneven skin tone is by using the goodness of aloe vera and milk. Milk has nourishing and skin lightening properties and aloe vera is soothing and antibacterial in nature which makes this an excellent skin lightening remedy.

Mix equal amount of milk and aloe vera gel and apply on your knees and elbows. Allow it to stay overnight and wash off the next morning. Follow this regularly for a few weeks to see results.

Another way to keep dark elbow and knees at bay is by moisturising them regularly using the Vaseline All Purpose Cream, infused with the goodness of glycerine and vitamin E it keeps skin nourished all day long.
