As you buckle up to take on the party season in full swing, we wish to give you a quick little reality check. No, we don’t want to kill your vibe, but have you tried sitting down and thinking of all the possible ways you can and probably still are wrecking your skin because of your major rager lifestyle?
Jam-packed social calendars can take a toll on your skin; constant going out and partying is so tiresome, that you often come back home and crash directly–conveniently forgetting to remove makeup, drink enough water etc. amongst other things. Here are all the things you’re probably doing unknowingly, and shouldn’t.
Staying up too late
Party season a.k.a ‘pull an all-nighter till you start looking like a homeless person’ season is a complete downer for your skin. We can’t stress enough on the fact that getting enough sleep is imperative to good skin. Once or twice is doable, but if you begin to stay up too late all the time, your body will get accustomed to that and will disturb your sleep cycle, thus damaging your skin, giving you puffy eyes etc. We recommend using an under eye cream such as The Pond’s Age Miracle Firm & Lift Eye Contour Lifter to keep puffy eyes at bay.
Sleeping with makeup on
How many times have you come home and the sight of your bed tempted you so much that you just skipped removing your makeup and went straight off to sleep? We’re all guilty of that. But trust us, if your skin could talk to you, it would yell at you worse than how your mom does when you lose her Tupperware. Sleeping with makeup on is a strict no as nights are the time your skin cells are renewing and some vital skin maintenance work is in progress. A layer of makeup totally wrecks that!
It takes less than 5 minutes to sweep clean all the makeup off your face; trust a mild baby oil or use a reliable makeup remover. We recommend the Lakmé Bi-Phased Makeup Remover!
Drinking too much alcohol
Alcohol is great, we’re not denying it! But that doesn’t mean you completely ignore the damage it can do to your skin. Alcohol can dehydrate your body and when your body is dehydrated; your skin automatically looks dull and lifeless. But, because it’s the party season and there’s no escaping alcohol, we suggest you drink plenty of water while you’re at it. Sure, you will have to give the loo a couple of more visits, but that’s any day better than having bad skin, isn’t it?
Forgetting to exfoliate
Let’s keep it simple, the more you’re out and about and exposed to external factors like pollution (count cigarette smoke as well), the more layers of dirt, oil and dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin. How to get rid of that? Exfoliate! But, because it’s a tad bit time consuming than just washing your face normally, you get lazy and skip it. Not exfoliating your skin is totally damaging it, so you must not skip that step.
Eating too much oily food
Chinese is the obvious, cheap and easily available party staple that we all love. It goes well with alcohol, tastes delish and fills us up easily! Having said that, we don’t need to tell you the harm it’s capable of causing to your skin, do we? In addition to eating oily, Chinese food, there’s alcohol and less sleep. This deadly combination not only wrecks the skin, but also is harmful for your body. Try to avoid Chinese by alternatives like roasted ‘tikkas’ that are much healthier and equally delicious.
Don’t put yourself and your skin through a tough time, for you will only regret it later when the harmful effects of these will start showing up on your skin! Enjoy the party season consciously!
