A couture rainbow at the Academy Awards
While shades of lacy beige and sparkling black are touted as red carpet favorites, the burst of colour this time around changed all that. Dreamy lilacs, mellow yellow and bold orange took over courtesy Heidi Klum, Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander and Olivia Munn. The uprising of happy hues and pleasant pastels has certainly got us mighty pleased!
Lob love on the red carpet
We’ve seen the lob make its appearance on the style circuit before but sure hogged the limelight on the Oscars red carpet. Many Hollywood hotsteppers flaunted variations of the long bob—Jennifer Lawrence shone with a sleek centre-parted lob, Lady Gaga opted for a back-swept lob with vintage curls and Naomi Watts chose a side-parted wavy long bob.
Statement accessories take center stage
Just before you spotted a demure gown making its way on the red carpet, a glint of glitter caught your eye. Straight silhouettes and simple tones were accessorized magnificently. Our favourites were Olivia Wilde’s bejewelled choker necklace, Julianne Moore’s glitzy diamond hoop earrings as well as Cate Blanchett’s dangling diamond earrings that perfectly complemented her delicate blue floral gown.
Fresh faces with a pop of colour
An unconventional look sported by the bevy of Hollywood beauties was a radiant, fresh face with just a tinge of colour on the lips. Sofia Vergara’s bold berry lip took centre-stage while Isla Fisher’s satin red lip was a summery showstopper. So was Brie Larson’s pleasant pink lip over her fresh, au-natural face. A tint of colour might be all too safe but it speaks straight to our souls; all the more reason why we can’t wait to see the trend make headlines this summer!
Legitimizing razzle dazzle red carpet sparkle
Nothing exemplifies Hollywood glamour quite like a dose of sparkle. The red carpet saw shimmer make its way to Hollywood’s best dressed. Margot Robbie’s gold number that resembled the Oscar statue was a show stealer while Maria Menounos worked white shimmer with grace. Proving once again that sparkle was made to strut down a red carpet, Naomi Watts wore her glitter gown with ease in peacock tones of violet and navy blue.
Bold beauty risks stars dared to take
When you have a chance to shine on the red carpet of the most prestigious awards ceremony in the world, why shy away from wearing a daring look. Rooney Mara paired her crimson lip with a slicked back multi bun updo, a style risk that elevated her to many best dressed lists. Andra Day wore old Hollywood hair curls with voluminous lashes and a glossy burgundy lip. Olivia Munn complimented her scarlet gown with a matching tangerine lips and flushed cheeks, which won her many a style accolade.
