I’ve always seen people roll their eyes when I tell them I’m a chef who also takes a keen interest in fashion. Unfortunately, chefs are often stereotyped as an unglamorous bunch of people. But that’s not me—I pay as much attention to style as I do to my food. I’m a moody dresser who loves experimenting with outfits. Being a connoisseur of style has taught me one of the biggest lessons that I want to share with my readers here—always wear what suits you; don’t go by the trend rulebook. It could be the biggest fashion trend but if it doesn’t flatter you, you will go unnoticed. Want to know more on my style rules and how I play dress up on various occasions? Read on…

When I shop till I drop…

When I shop till I drop…

When it comes to shopping, I prefer wearing something as comfy as possible. And this top is so me—it represents my love for both food and fashion. Besides, it’s a simple muscle tee that I can just throw on over a sports bra. I’m also a sucker for ripped jeans and these totally exhibit my quirky sense of style.

When I’m game for a rigorous workout session…

I mostly wear blacks to the gym because it accentuates my body and when my body looks fit, I’m all the more charged up for a workout. I absolutely love this mesh top from H&M—just wear it over a ganji and it looks so stylish. My Nike trainers are my favourites and help me reach my goals. Besides, I think when you buy new workout gear, it always motivates you to go out there and achieve your fitness goals. Trust me, this is a trick that always works. When you’re bored of your workouts, buy new gym clothes!

When I’m set for a dinner date…

When I’m set for a dinner date…

I’ve always had my weakness for flare dresses—they’re elegant and so feminine. Besides, they’re flattering because they’re fitted on the upper waist and then have all the drama. So whenever I’m heading out for a dinner scene or a date with my girls, I choose something classy like this. I team it with my nude heels because nude pointies make you look slimmer—take my word for it. I actually have 30 pairs of shoes but I wear only 4 of them and they’re in my favourite colours, nude and gold.

When I’m cooking up a storm …

When I’m cooking up a storm …

My favourite place, the kitchen demands a powerful wardrobe. My chef coat and hat are very dear to me. I’ll tell you a secret—this was an outfit I made last year for Halloween. It has my name on it and believe me, I had no idea Masterchef India 4 was going to happen to me back when I got it made. As luck would have it, I wore it to the auditions and got selected! So in many ways, this is like a special outfit for me.
