Twinkle Khanna, dressed in denims, white tee and a DVF jacket, pairing it with a Manish Arora for Amrapali statement neckpiece and a ram head ring, was the star of the show, not only looking brilliant, but also showing off her witty side. She spared no one—not even her husband or celebrities.
She never appeared on Koffee with Karan, however the old friends had a rapid fire session on stage, where the audience were witness to her cheeky side. On being asked about her book, the actress said, “It’s about how a modern woman looks at India and how India looks back at her.”
Spilling the beans on her husband, Twinkle said “When Akshay gets drunk, he sings mainu dila de visa dubai da,” while telling the audience that “I once saw Aamir crying behind a rock on set because the director didn’t listen to what he thought about a scene.”
Of course, Twinkle was on the receiving end of certain cheeky comments by her husband and friends as well. Commenting on his wife’s talents, Akshay said “Twinkle is like my movie, ‘Baby’—a deadly mission with a happy ending.” Aamir complimented Twinkle’s cheek and wit by saying “Twinkle is talented when it comes to insulting people. I had no idea that behind this bimbette was a sharp, talented woman.” Furthermore, he said that he was worried about Twinkle not making it as a writer, saying that “Just because everyone likes to watch cricket doesn’t mean they can play.”
Karan Johar claimed that Twinkle is the only person to scar his childhood, while Twinkle reminisced about a time in boarding school, when she asked Karan to simply “run away” because she didn’t want to steal food from the canteen for him. During her rapid fire session with Karan, Twinkle said that there should be a reality show made out of Radhe Maa’s life and that she had a fascination for Radhe Maa. When asked what she would do if she were Rahul Gandhi, Twinkle said that she would “look for my mommy.”
Twinkle had quite the audience for her evening, including Jaya Bachchan, Sussane Khan, Anu Dewan, Sonali Bendre and Gayatri Joshi among others. Her mother, Dimple Kapadia inaugurated ‘Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me’ and seemed to have a ball of a time watching her daughter on stage. We thought he evening was a complete laugh riot, and are assured that the book, written by the phenomenal Twinkle Khanna is going to be a bigger laugh riot.
