Written by Khubi Amin AhmedMay 06, 2016
Summer is now here in all its glorious splendour and we are totally feeling the heat! We have however found respite in the refreshing fruit sorbets that are just so easy to make and just as healthy. One big reason we love sorbets? They make great use of all the wonderful summer fruits that are available in abundance and are not laden with the heavy duty dairy products. Here are some fruit combinations perfect for sorbet recipes…
Pomegranates and buttermilk both spell summer and together they make a sorbet that is juicy and creamy in the right measure. Plus pomegranates contain high levels of flavonoids and potent antioxidants that prove beneficial for the heart and buttermilk is rich in calcium, protein and carbohydrates that only make the two a delectable dessert recipe.

Muskmelon and vodka sorbet
Watermelon and muskmelon are both water laden summer fruits that make great ingredients for a sorbet. Processing together the goodness of both the melons makes a refreshing, hydrating dessert that is also rich in vitamins, magnesium and potassium. Add a little lemon juice and vodka to the mixture and process further for a super chill, delicious dessert.

The citrus flavour of lemon teams really well with the sweet juiciness of lychee and together they make a sorbet that is tasty to the T and is packed to the brim with vitamins, minerals and nutrients that do you only good. Psst, a little dash of ginger and mint adds ten folds to the taste.
