The routine to follow for healthy nails
What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when we say ‘beauty routine’?
We’re sure you’re thinking face, body and hair care. But the one part of our body that is probably most-neglected is our nails. Applying a coat of nail paint to cover up unhealthy nails isn’t the solution.

To ensure that your nails are healthy, follow these easy home remedies for healthy and beautiful nails.

Coconut oil

Sea salt soak

Coconut oil, practically found in every Indian household is probably one of the most underrated ingredients in your kitchen. Apart from having numerous health benefits, it also has multiple beauty benefits. In order to improve the strength and the appearance of your nails, massage them with coconut oil every day. It helps moisturise the nails and strengthen cuticles. It’ll also form a protective shield and prevent the nails from getting dry and brittle.

Lemon juice

Sea salt soak

Did you know that lemon juice is good for more than just your lemonade? If your nails are brittle and yellowed, rubbing some lemon juice over them for 15-30 minutes will help. Wash off with warm water and apply some hand cream. You’ll notice that your nails look brighter and healthier.

Sea salt soak

In a bowl of lukewarm water, add some sea and soak your nails. This sea salt soak will strengthen brittle nails. It also helps get rid of dead skin. Follow this ritual once a week for best results.

Every night before you sleep, apply a good moisturiser on your hands and feet focusing on your nails as well. You’ll wake up to shinier and healthier nails. This can be done every night to ensure that your nails always have a natural sheen to them.

Additionally, you can follow these simple do’s and don’ts for healthy nails.

  1. Never scratch off your nail polish off your nails. This will damage your nail bed.
  2. Don’t leave nail polish on for more than 7 days at a stretch.
  3. Always use a nail polish remover  to remove the nail paint.
  4. Give your nails breathing room for at least 2 days before you apply another nail paint.
