Zendaya has slowly, but steadily, established herself as a fashion and beauty icon at a very young age. The 24-year stunner made history at the 72nd annual Emmy Awards as the youngest to win the Outstanding Lead Actress award and be one of only two African-American women to do so.

The actress served not one, but two fabulous looks for the digitised events. One of these looks has quickly achieved viral status. Fans were quick to notice the similarity between Zenadya’s hair and Spanish pop icon Selena Quintanilla’s 1994 Grammy hairstyle. This isn’t unusual for her as Z often pays homage to other inspirational women with her style. The hairstyle did steal the limelight on Emmy night and now her hairstylist, Larry Sims, has revealed just how he was able to achieve the stunning ‘do. Check it out…

Step 01: Prep your hair by dampening it a little and applying some volumizing cream like the TIGI Bed Head Small Talk. It will help control the frizz, especially if you have textured hair like Z. Finish by spritzing with a heat protection spray like the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray.

Step 02: Apply some hair serum like the TIGI Bed Head Control Freak Frizz Control And Straightener Serum to your strands for added shine. Next, use a round brush to brush your hair for maximum volume. Start at the nape of the neck and work your way to the front of her hair. Pick thick sections of hair and curl them using heatless rollers.

Step 03: Once the lovely curls have set in, take the rollers out and put all of your hair up in a ponytail, high up on your head. Backcomb the pony to add volume on top and let the tips of the ponytail drop in the front to form the faux bangs.

Zendaya’s look is a chic and effortless hairstyle that you can do on your own and with barely any fancy-schmancy products. We love a relatable queen!
