Every day is Women’s Day if you ask us! But there’s just something really sweet about taking time out on a particular day to really stop and appreciate the women in your life!
And since we, at BeBe, are major beauty buffs (duh!), we decided to celebrate the day by taking time out to thank the women who have encouraged, advised and supported us in our beautiful journey. So we asked team BeBe to share the best beauty advice they received from the women they admire the most, and here’s what they had to say…
- Sumona Bose, Senior Beauty Writer
- Lisabelle Gonsalves, Content Director
- Niyati Sharma, Creative Producer
- Sohini Chowdhury, Social Media Executive
- Urvi Dalal, Senior Beauty Writer
Sumona Bose, Senior Beauty Writer
Every woman’s first association with beauty usually starts with someone from her family, and for Sumona, it was her none other than her sister. Even though she received this advice years ago, it is one she swears by even today. “I still remember watching my sister spend at least 15 minutes getting ready for the day before leaving for college. Watching her use all those pretty-looking skincare and makeup products would leave me completely entranced by the whole thing. All I ever wanted as a kid was to grow up into a glamorous woman just like her. This woman has been our in-house beauty guru, and one of the best beauty advice that she gave me is to wear SPF — ALL THE TIME! My sister and I are both super sporty and outdoorsy, so protecting our skin has always been of prime importance for us. This early habit is the reason for my lovely glow and has helped keep not-so-cute fine lines and pigmentation at bay.”
This is one piece of advice we, at BeBe, swear by too. If you want your skin to remain youthful for as long as possible, don’t skip the SPF, ladies!
Lisabelle Gonsalves, Content Director
As someone who works closely with the who’s who of the beauty industry, Lisabelle’s best beauty advice came from none other than her former boss. “She was really into all things beauty and had a healthy, holistic idea of it all. She was the one who told me in my early 20s that I should prioritise my skincare routine if I wanted to achieve a great makeup look. Until then, I always thought of skincare and makeup as separate things, but now I know different. Her advice completely transformed my beauty game!”
It’s true, girls! Good skin prep is the foundation of a kickass makeup look. So always, cleanse, tone and moisturise before layering on foundation.
Niyati Sharma, Creative Producer
For Niyati, it was her mom who gave her the best beauty advice. “One of the best beauty tips that I have gotten from my mom is to use a lip liner. I never really realised the importance of a lip liner until I truly started experimenting with it. That being said, this came in handy because my lips are thin and with the help of a lip liner, I can truly transform the shape and size of my lips in the most non-invasive manner (if you know what I mean). So now, when people ask me why my lips look so pouty, all I say is — never underestimate the power of a lip liner. Thanks, Amma!”
We agree! Lip liner doesn’t get enough credit for its ability to completely transform your lips into a luscious pout!
Sohini Chowdhury, Social Media Executive
All of us love having that one friend to share our beauty products with, and for Sohini, it was her former roommate (who also happens to be a beauty editor and someone Sohini considers an elder sister) who ended up giving her the best beauty advice that completely changed the way her skin looked and felt. “Before meeting her, I was super lazy and a complete makeup noob; you know the types that don’t bother with removing their makeup before bed? Yep, that was me! But this one time she gave me a full lecture about the importance of removing makeup and even showed me how to do it, which honestly transformed my skin so much.”
#DidYouKnow Going to bed with makeup on can cause acne? So always do a double cleanse before hitting the sheets.
Urvi Dalal, Senior Beauty Writer
As for yours truly, the best beauty advice came from my grandmother! As someone with really dry skin, I would dread applying foundation as it would end up exaggerating the dry patches of my face. But it was my grandma who first introduced me to the art of mixing a drop of oil into my foundation for that extra nourishment and glow. And trust me, I have never looked back since.
