Beaded chokers, slip dresses, comb-like headbands, glossy lips and Destiny's Child’s Survivor on loop - that’s what the year 2000, or as the internet is calling it now, Y2K looked like for most of us! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would know that the golden period (well, for most of us) of fashion and beauty trends is back, and our millennial heart is loving every bit of it!

Here are five Y2K beauty trends that you have to try out in 2021. Check them out!

1. Thin eyebrows

While we spent the last few years filling up and making our eyebrows appear fuller, this Y2K trend rendered our efforts useless. The year 2000 was all about over-plucked, non-existent eyebrows; however, while thin eyebrows are back in vogue, not everyone is willing to go all out and pluck their brows. Instead of tweezing your brows pencil-thin, let your brows grow in their natural shape and then use the concealer hack to make them appear thin.

2. Visible lip liner

The late 90s and early 2000s were all about glossy lips and dark, visible lip liners, and the internet has welcomed this trend back with open arms! Line your lips with a dark brown liner and sweep on a nude lip gloss to recreate this effect. It gives an amazing ombré effect to the lips, and we are totally diggin’ this trend!

3. Blue eyeshadow

2021 has been all about embracing colours in your makeup, and we’ve got Y2K to thank for that! The year 2000 saw celebrities adopting bold and playful colours like fuchsia pink, tangerine, etc., in their makeup look, but the cool blue tint stole the show for us. Now in 2021, the pastel blue colour has reemerged as the crowd favourite, and we’re totally digging it.

4. Heavy blush

We’re just going to say it as it is: blending and layering makeup wasn’t the strongest suit for most peeps in the 2000s. They loved their makeup loud and bright, and heavy blush was one of the most loved beauty trends of that time. The trend is back in vogue this year, albeit a bit better blended and dewy-looking. Beauty mavens are opting for cream and gel-based formulas to create this look, and honestly, it looks pretty amazing!

5. Smudged black eyeliner

Remember the punky, cool black eyeliner that Avril Lavigne rocked in her music videos in the 2000s? Well, it’s back in trend with a bang and has been spotted on the runways as well. This Y2K trend has been upgraded and twisted to give it a reverse cat eye makeup look and looks amazing.
