Sick of the grimy scalp build-up in summer? Deep cleanse your hair at home now

You’ll admit that with the change in seasons, your beauty game also needs to change. But if you think only your skin needs a detox from the summer dirt and grime, think again! In summers, your scalp produces more oil and accumulates dirt which leads to dandruff and icky, itchy scalps. On top of it, regular use of dry shampoos, styling products and hairsprays make your hair greasy and heavy. Swamped with all that build-up, your scalp requires a deep cleanse. We’ve got some quick DIY tricks for a salon-like deep cleanse at home...

A cleansing wash

Micellar water rinse

Isn’t it frustrating when your scalp is oily even after you washed your hair like an hour ago? Sometimes your usual shampoo is not enough to cleanse hair when summer residue is in question. Cleansing shampoos are formulated to strip away the grease and dirt in one wash. Swear by an anti-residue and detox shampoo to wash your hair if your scalp is prone to summer build-up.

Baking soda can do more than help bakes your favourite cake. It is an excellent hair cleanser. Mix baking soda, apple cider vinegar and warm water in a glass. Stir and let the baking soda react with vinegar. Pour the mixture through wet hair and massage the scalp to get the dirt out. Rinse with lukewarm water for shiny, clean hair.

Air-dry your mane

Rather than blow drying your hair, air dry your hair to avoid additional bacteria and dirt accumulating in the scalp. Even if you have thick hair, we suggest giving your drying tools a rest and let you hair dry naturally to avoid the risk of build-up.

Lemons and aloe mask

Micellar water rinse

Lemons are amazing for removing oil from hair, thanks to its astringent properties. Also, the alpha hydroxy acids present in them exfoliate dead cells and reduce dandruff. Mix lemon juice with some water and aloe vera gel. Aloe vera will provide much needed moisture to the dry summer hair. Leave the mixture on the hair for 10 minutes, comb through hair and rinse.

You know micellar water as the makeup removing hero. But what if we told you it can remove the product residue and oil from your scalp too? Micelles are small clusters of molecules that help remove impurities and build-up. Just like skin, your hair can be squeaky clean by rinsing your hair with micellar water-based products once a week.
