Salon hair washes have a totally different vibe to them, the relaxing massage, the right temperature of the water and of course the silky smooth hair we leave the salon with. But even if we use the same products at home – It just doesn’t reap the same results we were hoping for. But we at BB have cracked the code and so, here is a cheat sheet on how to give yourself a professional hair wash at home and get yourself an inexpensive after salon hair that you won’t be able to keep your hands away from!
- 01. Check the water temperature
- 02. Don’t scrub; gently massage
- 03. Double cleanse
- 04. Condition
- 05. Rinse away!
01. Check the water temperature
Shower time is a relaxing time to destress and cleanse your hair, body and mind. The right temperature for hair washing is neither hot nor cold. While, hot water will damage the strands and extremely, cold water will make hair washing uncomfortable when it should actually be relaxing. So, professionals choose lukewarm water as it is the best when shampooing the hair because it helps open the cuticles and remove dirt. Once done, finish off with cold water while rinsing your conditioner that will seal the cuticles leaving the hair smoother and shinier.
02. Don’t scrub; gently massage
Take not more than two dime-sized amounts of TRESemmé Botanique Nourish & Replenish Shampoo and gently massage it on your scalp starting from the top of your head and work your way from side to side (don’t massage in circles). Remember that your hair is three times weaker when it's wet so don’t dig in your fingernails and scrub your scalp vigorously, instead massage gently with fingertips.
03. Double cleanse
Try out the rinse-lather-and-repeat method next time you wash your hair. The first round removes any build-up and the second time cleanses your scalp.
Use the TRESemmé Botanique Nourish & Replenish Conditioner With Olive oil and Camellia oil once done with cleansing. Apply it from mid-length to tips, avoiding the scalp area. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes and let its goodies penetrate into your strands.
05. Rinse away!
Have you noticed how much time hairdressers spend rinsing hair with water when they’re done applying products? This is to ensure that there are no traces of product in your hair as that will make it look dull and lacklustre. So ensure to rinse hair properly in order to avoid product buildup or dullness. Once out, use a microfiber towel and wrap it around your hair instead of rubbing your hair dry. Finish off with TRESemme Keratin Smooth Hair Serum. Apply damp hair from the mid-length to the tips. It tames frizz and flyaways, adds shine, detangles knots, boosts shine and softness.
