Overbleaching is one of the biggest hair sins you’re probably committing. While colouring your hair can amp up your hair game and plump up the hair fiber, bleaching can actually cause a lot of damage to your tresses. Bleaching your hair regularly damages the hair cuticle, which in turn causes the hair fibre to not only become thinner but also more prone to breakage.

Heat-styling tools come in handy in everyday life. They not only tame your hair and make it more manageable but also help you achieve innumerable styles. However, overusing your straightener, curling iron or turning the heat too high on your blow-dryer can damage the cuticle on the outer layer of the hair, weaken the hair shaft, and ultimately cause hair thinning. It is, therefore, ideal to limit the use of heat-styling tools and while blow-drying, avoid the hottest setting as much as possible.

Nothing is as comforting as a hot water shower after a long, exhausting day, no doubt. But, did you know that showering with hot water can damage both, your skin and hair? Hot water strips your hair of natural oils and moisture, making it dry and brittle. And that’s not all! It also opens up the pores on your scalp, thus stimulating them to produce more oil. So, when your scalp becomes oilier, you shampoo it more often to get rid of the excess oil. This way, you end up losing more hair.
Bad habit #05: Going for a pulled-back look regularly
A tight pulled-back ponytail or bun may look classy and stylish, but it is not a good idea to wear it oh-so-often. With a tight hairstyle, you’re putting your roots in danger. The constant tugging can cause the hair follicles to weaken their grip on strands, which in turn leads to excess hair fall and hair thinning. And then, you’ll also notice your hairline looking wider than usual. It’s best to wear your hair in super loose hairstyles such a braid, bun or ponytail.
