I have been a functional lazy-girl-on-the-go for a couple of years now. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to find time-saving hacks that would help me make the most out of my day without doing too much. One of them is to replace an elaborate morning breakfast with a hearty smoothie.
IMO, smoothies are a great addition to your daily diet. They are easy to make and deliver a bunch of different nutrients, like protein, carbs, and healthy fats, to your body in a couple of big swigs. They are also delicious; which means you won’t have to compromise on your taste palate to get your daily fix of greens.
If you are not already into smoothies, now is the perfect time to do so. With the ongoing pandemic, our food choices have considerably reduced; since we can’t order out. In such cases, your body needs to be well fed in order to make up for the rich food you were eating outside. A healthy smoothie is a perfect substitute to equalise the dietary restriction and keep you fit. Ahead, 5 yummy smoothies that can be made with easily available ingredients amid the lockdown.

Banana breakfast smoothie
Blend in one banana, sweet yoghurt, a little bit honey and a sliver of ginger in a mixer until you reach even consistency. This smooth mixture is filling, packed with potassium and healthy gut bacteria. The ginger helps soothe heartburn, improve digestion and fights a bunch of other tummy troubles too.
Detox with chia seeds
Upgrade your regular green smoothie with some chia seeds to give your body a deep detox every alternate day. Soak a handful of chia seeds in water overnight and add it to a smoothie made by blending spinach, green apple and unsweetened milk in the morning. This smoothie is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and plant protein; making it a perfect follow-up for a workout.
Cool watermelon smoothie
A refreshing recipe for the summer, blend seedless watermelon with fat-free milk and ice. Add a pinch of black salt to the mix and drink it cold. On particularly hot days, this smoothie can help cool down your stomach and serve your hydrating needs for the day.
Yummy strawberry smoothie
This delicious smoothie is one of my personal favourites. Mix one cup of skim milk with frozen strawberries, 1 tbsp flaxseed oil and 1 tbsp of sunflower seeds. Blend in a mixer until smooth. Flaxseed oil helps reduce inflammation caused in the body due to the heat and sunflower seeds help curb seasonal allergies. The antioxidant qualities of strawberries provide our skin and hair with some TLC. Also, it is so delicious!
Carrot cream smoothie
Carrot smoothies aren’t very popular because it is a tad bit tricky to blend carrots into a smooth paste. But add some milk and you won’t have to chug on a chunky smoothie. Throw in a pinch of cinnamon, some walnuts and diced pineapples in there to make it ever so enticing. Carrots aid in increasing metabolism, which is something we all need in our mission to boost immunity.
