Research suggests that one of the ways to avoid infecting yourself during the pandemic is by maintaining hygiene. While it is not entirely possible to avoid touching object such as elevator buttons, doorbells, groceries, etc. it is, therefore, necessary to wash and sanitize your hands every time you touch a foreign object.
But did you know that there’s another sneaky object that could spread infection? Yes, we are talking about your mobile phones. You carry it around with you wherever you go and this automatically makes it a hotbed for bacteria. Sounds pretty scary, doesn’t it?
Well, there is no reason to panic, because we are about to give you a few tips on how to sanitize your phone to keep it clean. Check it out…
- Step 01: Remove the case
- Step 02: Clean with a microfibre cloth
- Step 03: Use a disinfecting wipe
- Step 04: Allow it to air dry
- Step 05: Wipe it clean
Step 01: Remove the case

Before you begin sanitizing your phone, it is important to note that you need to clean both, the phone screen AND the cover. This will ensure that your phone is thoroughly disinfected and safe to use again.
Step 02: Clean with a microfibre cloth

The next step is to use a clean microfibre cloth to thoroughly clean the surface of your phone. The friction between the cloth and the surface of your phone not only eliminate all the smudges and filth but also remove the germs and other impurities. It is important to use a microfibre cloth because it does a better job of lifting and trapping bacteria.
Step 03: Use a disinfecting wipe

This is the step that actually helps to disinfect and sanitize your phone, so pay close attention. To actually kill the germs, you need to reach for any disinfecting wipe that you may have around the house. In case you don’t have any, here’s something you can do - simply take another piece of a clean microfibre cloth, dip it in a mixture of soap and water, thoroughly wring the excess water and gently wipe the entire surface of your phone. Be really careful to avoid all the ports to prevent any sort of damage.
Step 04: Allow it to air dry

Just like you are supposed to wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds to completely disinfect it, your sort of need to do the same for your phone. Only that you need to leave it on and let it air dry for about 5 minutes to completely sanitize it.
Step 05: Wipe it clean

Once five minutes are up, reach for a clean paper towel and wipe off the entire surface of the phone to help get rid of excess moisture (if any). And your phone is completely sanitized and safe to be used again!
Note: Follow the same steps to clean your phone cover too.
