How to determine your eye shape and face shape for on-fleek makeup

Knowing your eye shape and face shape can have a game-changing impact on your makeup look. Don’t believe us? Think about how a smokey eye look makes almond eyes look more gorgeous and similarly a winged liner gives rounded eyes more definition and shape. Also, contouring the right parts of your face and using blush the right way for your face shape can make your face look more chiselled and gorgeous.

If you don’t know your face shape or eye shape, here is a complete guide to help you determine it. Grab a mirror and get started.

Rocking an eye makeup look or eyeliner shape that suits your eye shape can do wonders for your look. The right eye makeup for your eye shape can make your eyes look bigger, beautiful and oh-so-gorgeous. But to know your eye shape, you need to look carefully and examine your eyes. This simple guide will help.

  •  Look for the crease. If there’s no crease on the upper lids of your eye, you have monolid eyes. However, if the crease of the eyes hangs on the eye and disappear when you open your eyes, you have hooded eyes.
  • Examine the tilt. Look in the mirror and imagine a straight line running through the centre of your eyes. If the outer corner of your eyes skims above this line, you have upturned eye and if the line is above the outer end of your eyes, then you have downturned eyes.
  • You have almond eyes if the white part of the eye isn’t visible below or above the iris and if it is visible around the iris, then you have round-shaped eyes.
  • Wide-set eyes are far apart while close-set eyes have less gap between them. Measure your eyes and the gap between the eyes with your thumb and index finger. If the gap between eyes is larger than the length of the eye, you have wide-set eyes and if the gap is lesser, you have close-set eyes.

Not just hairstyles, knowing your face shape helps you ace the perfect face makeup as well. It can help highlight your best features and take the focus away from the not-so-best ones. Here is how you can determine your face shape in easy steps.

Step 01: Pull your hair back, stand in front of a clean mirror

Step 02: Trace the shape of your face on the mirror using a pen, pencil or chalk

Step 03: Move back and see the shape you just drew. Oval, square, round, rectangle, heart and diamond, whichever shapes it seems to be the closest to, that’s your face shape.
