How to pack makeup when you travel: 5 useful tips

What’s worse than heartbreak? Broken and spilled makeup. Therefore we never wish this even on our worst enemies. But while traveling if you’ve ever reached your destination opened your bag and saw your makeup was all over the place, we don’t get you! That’s because we’ve got the best tricks to pack our makeup.

Makeup is expensive and we all have a hard time saying goodbye to our favourite makeup products, right? Therefore it would be wise for you to learn these tips instead of spending your vacation collecting shattered pieces of that eyeshadow palette.

01. Use cotton pads as cushions

05.	Transfer products into smaller containers

Eye shadow palettes are quite fragile and can easily break during travel. Therefore, avoid carrying huge palettes when you travel. Instead, opt for quads or trios. You can also place cotton pads on top of the eyeshadow, cut it to fit perfectly and carefully close the lid. This will keep everything in place.

02. Scotch tape for liquid products

05.	Transfer products into smaller containers

Avoid carrying too many liquid products and the ones you absolutely cannot do without should be secured using scotch tapes. Seal the top of your products with two to three pieces of tape. Make sure that the tape covers the entire cap to prevent spillage.

03. Carry multi-tasking products

05.	Transfer products into smaller containers

Instead of risking the destruction of your favourite makeup product, carry only those that you can multitask with. For example, some liquid lipsticks can also be used as blush and eyeshadow to create a monochrome look. Invest in products like these and use it smartly while on a vacation.

04. Place makeup bag in the centre of the suitcase

05.	Transfer products into smaller containers

Place your makeup bag in the centre of the suitcase to prevent shock and spill. To make it even safer, wrap the bag in a sweater or towel and then place it in the suitcase. For fragile products with glass packaging such as perfumes, wrap a pair of socks around it.

05. Transfer products into smaller containers

05.	Transfer products into smaller containers

Another smart thing to do is to transfer your products into smaller containers. Reusable plastic bottles are easily available and prevent your products from getting ruined. Products that you need very little of, such as concealer or primer, pack them in old contact lens cases.
