Gram flour, more commonly known as besan is jam-paced with nutrients which make it an ideal choice for skin care. One of Indian’s favourite kitchen ingredients, besan is the most basic face pack ever.

Here’s how besan is good for your hair, skin, and health.

For the hair

Besan is a chemical free cleansing agent packed with nutrients which can get you long, smooth tresses. It prevents hair fall, controls dryness and frizz and is an excellent cleanser for your scalp. What more do you need? A besan hair mask is the best way to avail the benefits of this miracle ingredient.

We suggest a besan and almond hair mask. The nourishing qualities of besan combined with the vitamin E in the almonds will give you soft and bouncy hair.

Mix 3 tablespoons of besan and almond powder each with 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Stir the paste and apply it in your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition as usual.

Do this twice a week for beautiful tresses.

Besan is highly nutritious and filled with a variety of health benefits. It contains fibre which keeps the cholesterol in control, making it good for your heart. It’s gluten-free and even helps you fight off allergies. Besan has a low glycaemic index, which means it has lesser calories and can help you lose weight. A besan chila or besan dhokla for breakfast is a healthy start to your day. Besan is also a primary ingredient in many curries, making it a fulfilling and healthy lunch or dinner.

For the skin

While it may be an integral part of an Indian kitchen, besan helps remove tan, treats oily skin and reduces acne, making it a popular skin care ingredient. Besan is an all-time favourite ingredient among skin care experts. It has even been used in Ayurvedic skin care products for ages.

A besan and cucumber face pack is the best way to get clear, glowing skin. Cucumber contains vitamin C which soothes irritated skin while lemon juice has antibacterial properties which helps prevent acne.

Take 3 tablespoons bean, 2 tablespoons cucumber juice and 5 drops lemon juice. Mix them to make a paste and apply it onto your face. Let it dry and then wash your face with cold water. Add in a few drops of rosewater for moisturised skin.

Use this pack daily for radiant skin.
