5 everyday skincare habits that have nothing to do with the umpteen products on your beauty shelf

Every time I see a woman with flawless, glowing and clear skin, I always wonder what is that they do differently. I am pretty diligent with my skincare routine, and try to stick to it no matter what. Then why is it that my skin does not look like theirs?

Well, now I know why. It is because these women go one step further by following certain skincare habits that boost the performance of their skincare products to ensure that they show great results. These simple everyday habits will definitely show you a marked improvement in your skin with time.

01. Drink plenty of water

05. De-stress

This is perhaps the simplest way to achieve great skin without spending a single penny. If you don’t drink enough water, your skin will look dull, dehydrated and tired. You must drink at least three to four litres (7-8 tall glasses) daily to flush out toxins from your skin, improve its barrier function and keep it hydrated from the inside out.

02. Follow a healthy diet

05. De-stress

What you put inside your body is what will reflect on the outside, and this stands true for your skin as well. Eating healthy delivers all the necessary nutrients to your skin, helping it look nourished and glowing. Include more green leafy vegetables, nuts and protein in your diet to ensure healthy-looking skin.

03. Get enough sleep

05. De-stress

This is one of the most understated habits but has a great impact on the look and feel of your skin. Your skin regenerates and repairs itself while you’re asleep. This is why your skin looks dull and tired after you pull an all-nighter. Therefore, get at least 8 hours of sleep each night, and the next time you are planning to skimp on sleep, think about how much damage it is causing your skin.

04. Exercise regularly

05. De-stress

If you need more reasons to hit the gym, we have one for you - it’s good for your skin. Sweating causes toxins to be released from your skin which in turn clears out clogged pores and prevents breakouts. Additionally, exercise improves blood flow, enhances the cell renewal process to delay the signs of ageing. Exercising is like your free dosage of retinol.

05. De-stress

05. De-stress

Stress causes a surge of hormones in your system that lead to your sebaceous glands acting up and causing excess oil production and acne. Therefore, it is extremely important to keep your stress under check for flawless skin. You can indulge in yoga, meditation and exercise as they help calm your mind, regulate your hormones and in turn ensure that your skin looks clear and glowing.
