We all have pores but in some of us, the pores are often clogged and easily visible. Reason? Oily or acne prone skin. If you do suffer from oily skin, you probably also know how excess sebum and bacteria easily find a home in your pores making them appear bigger, causing acne and breakouts. When you have been fighting pimples, it’s best to start from the root and one of the best ways to do so is by ensuring that your pores are clear and cleansed. Wondering how that’s done? Here’s a low-down…
- Make use of lemon
While lemons will always be an integral part of the kitchen, you can also make them an important part of your skin care regime. The citric acid in lemon works towards exfoliating your skin and clearing any bacteria that is stuck deep within your pores. Like that’s not enough, lemons also help in lightening your complexion! You can mix lemon juice with honey or oatmeal and apply this concoction as a face pack.
- Try activated charcoal
If there’s a magnet for bacteria in the skin care world, it’s got to be activated charcoal. Known to suck out toxins and clear the complexion, activated charcoal works its way into pores and pulls out the excess gunk stuck inside thereby helping oxygen to flow. So if you truly want a treatment for your clogged pores, look no further than activated charcoal powder. Prepare a mask while mixing 2 tablespoons of charcoal powder with 1 tablespoon rose water and apply this to your face. Wash off after 20 minutes.
- Rely on steam
If you want an inexpensive way to treat clogged pores, there’s nothing better than taking steam. The steam allows your pores to open up thereby helping draw out any bacteria or excess oil from the pores. For your benefit, you can even add an essential oil like tea tree to the steam to ensure your face feels deeply cleansed and rejuvenated.
- Go for sugar
Cakes, donuts and candies—sugar is an inseparable part of some of our favourite foods. But have you heard how sugar helps skin concerns like clogged pores? Well, sugar is an excellent exfoliating agent that helps break scar tissues and draws out the impurities from your pores leaving your face smooth and supple. To make the most of it, mix 1 tablespoon of sugar and squeeze in half a lemon into it. Scrub your face gently with this mix and wash off after 3 minutes.
- Get yourself a trusty scrub
