Our favourite time of the year is here, and we can hardly contain our excitement! Yes, the biggest fashion and beauty event of the season, Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2020 starts this Tuesday, and we went behind the scenes to where all the action’s at.
At the LFW fittings, we bumped into model Nicole Padival aka @nickypickky and got her to spill the beans on her beauty routine and how she’s prepping for the runway.
BB: What do you love the most about being a model?
NP: I love that I get to play so many roles; every season there’s something new to look forward to. And in general, being a model gives me an adrenaline rush. I meet so many cool people every day.
BB: What beauty routine do you follow during fashion week?
NP: Honestly, my sleep goes for a toss, so I carry a blanket or shawl and just take naps whenever possible. Other than that, I make sure to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and cleansing my face at the end of the day to get rid of all the dirt.
BB: What’s one beauty secret that’s really important for you as a model?
NP: I think exercising. Recently I broke my toe and I haven’t been able to exercise as much. I landed up putting on a lot of weight and that just makes me feel unhealthy.
BB: What drink do you rely on for glowing skin other than water?
NP: Coconut water and lemon water
BB: A skincare hack that you swear by…
NP: Oil to remove my makeup. Most makeup removers don’t help with stubborn eye makeup. I love massaging my face with the oil and watching the makeup come off so easily.
BB: What is your go-to hairstyle?
NP: I have wild curly hair, so no matter what hairstyle I go for, it never looks tidy. That’s why I just keep my hair open most of the time.
BB: What’s your favourite workout?
NP: Dancing! I love to dance; it’s my favourite thing ever!
BB: A makeup hack you’ve learned from a makeup artist.
NP: I apply my mascara with the applicator and then use a toothbrush to remove the excess. This hack makes it look very natural.
BB: 3 makeup products you never leave your house without.
NP: Mascara, lip balm, and blush. Lately, I’ve been loving blush; I think it makes such a big difference.
BB: Who do you look up to for beauty inspiration?
NP: There’s this YouTube artist called Hindash, he uses minimal makeup but gets beautiful results, which I love. I think I look better with less makeup on.
BB: Our theme for the month is self-love, how would you express self-love in terms of beauty?
NP: For me, self-love is having an everyday self-care routine. Taking 10 minutes out of your daily routine and pampering your skin to a face mask, scrub or a massage every week. I massage my face with this massager I found online; it’s good for sinuses and keeps the skin looking fresh and young.
