Want To Know What Ingredients Work Best For Your Skin Type? Right This Way
Written by Anjali AgarwalFeb 21, 2020
Finding the right products and ingredients that work for your skin type is no easy task. You have to go through gazillion products before you finally find your match. Just because it worked for someone doesn’t mean it’d work for you too. So stop taking recommendations from that colleague at work and cut back on the guesswork ‘cause we’re about to make things easier for you.
Below, we’ve rounded up ingredients you need to look out for when buying skincare products, depending on your skin type. Thank us, later.
If you’re looking for a natural treatment, try using bananas, cucumbers and nourishing face oils extracted from moisturising ingredients like coconut, olive and avocado to treat your dry and flaky skin. When buying skincare products, look for ingredients like glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, paraffin, beeswax, petroleum and natural ingredients like shea butter, aloe vera and cocoa butter to get smooth and soft skin.
Oily skin
Ingredients with non-comedogenic and antibacterial properties are your BFFs. You can use tree tea oil, argan oil and jojoba oil - they are lightweight and won’t clog your pores. Also, ingredients rich in citric acids like lemon, strawberries and kiwi can help cleanse your skin and control sebum. Look for salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and tea tree extract in your skincare products.
Sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin, ingredients with soothing and anti-inflammatory properties are your best bet. Natural ingredients like oatmeal, aloe vera, coconut oil and milk can nourish and soothe your irritated and inflamed skin. Also, ingredients like chamomile extracts, fruit extracts and natural oils are a boon for those with a sensitive skin type.
Combination skin
Those with combination skin need super ingredients that can cater to both, the oily T-zone and the dry U-zone. Include natural ingredients like honey, yoghurt and aloe vera in your skincare routine; they help cleanse the skin and kill bacteria on your T-zone, leaving your skin moisturised. Invest in products with exfoliating and hydrating acids like coffee, aloe vera, strawberry and jojoba.
