Bid Adieu To Your Lingering Tan

Written by Girija NaiksatamAug 29, 2016
We all agree that a sun-kissed tan looks exotic and sexy, but that’s only if you are blessed with skin that can bear the sun without getting damaged. With the amount of heat and sun we are exposed to these days, our skin looks like worn leather as opposed to the sexy tan we see on others—and when that happens, the tan must go!

Say yes to exfoliation
Exfoliation is essential when it comes to getting rid of a tan but also to keep your skin looking fresh. It takes away dead skin cells exposing new ones.

You can make your own scrub at home by mixing curd, gram flour and lemon in equal parts. The yoghurt and lemon help lighten your skin and the flour acts as a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin. It is important to moisturize the new skin cells right after exfoliating. Avoid exposing your skin to the sun right after exfoliating because your skin is sensitive at this point.

Homemade beauty masks
These homemade babies are easily accessible in your kitchen and make a delicious and soothing recipe for tanned skin.

Mix together one tablespoon of rice flour and gram flour and two tablespoons of yoghurt and milk into a paste. Apply this pack on the affected area and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. If you are applying it on the body, make sure you apply a thick layer.

Use fresh coconut water & aloe vera directly on your skin as they are cleaning agents and work wonders on a tan.

Peel off the skin of a raw potato. Mash it in the blender to make a puree. Filter out the water into a cup using a strainer or a piece of muslin cloth. Discard the pulp and add lime juice into the potato juice. Both juices should be in equal quantity. This pack is now ready to be applied on any body part. Use for three consecutive days and you’ll notice a significant difference.

Mix lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice in a bowl. Apply to the affected areas. The acidity in the lemon juice will help to remove the tan and the cucumber and rose water will cool the skin down.

Mix one part lemon juice to one part honey. Apply this mixture on the tanned area. This helps in soothing and moisturising your skin.

Add turmeric to a cup of milk to make a paste for your entire body. Use it as a pack and wash away after it dries off.
