How to care for your lips while you’re on the go

Chapped, dehydrated and cracked — that’s how lips look like when you don’t take enough care of them. Now, while we firmly advocate treating your lips to regular exfoliating and moisturising treatments, we can understand that it isn’t possible all the time. So, for those of you who are always on the go, here are five simple ways to improve your lip health…

01. Carry a lip tin in your pocket

The easiest way to make sure that your lips are always soft and smooth is to moisture them with a lip balm. Lip balms are a must-have in every girl’s handbag and that’s why we suggest keeping the Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter Tin handy at all times! This lip care product is clinically proven to help take care of dry lips and make them naturally healthy and glossy.

It nourishes and moisturises your lips to make them supple and soft. What we love the most about this lip tin is that it is non-sticky, non-greasy and perfect for regular use. It comes with a specialised formulation that contains 100% pure white petroleum jelly that will lock the moisture in. So, slide this cutesy tin into your bag and dab it on the lips whenever they feel dry.

02. Prep your lips before touch-ups

Applying lipstick on dry, flakey lips is never a good idea. So make sure you prep your lips before you apply lipstick or do touch-ups on the go. This will ensure your lipstick glides on smoothly and your pout looks perfect at all times. Use your finger to dab on some Vaseline Lip Therapy Original Tin on your lips and wait for a few minutes for it to get absorbed. Once set, apply your favourite lipstick and you’re good to go.

03. Stay hydrated

Drinking eight glasses of water a day can keep the skin looking fresh and hydrated, but, at the same time, it goes a long way in improving your lip health too. Not drinking enough water can dehydrate your skin and lips, so make sure you keep a water bottle handy at all times. This will not only hydrate those lips but also make them look supple and fuller.

04. Stop licking your lips

We understand the constant urge to lick your lips, but trust us when we say this - you’re causing much harm while doing so. Licking lips can cause friction and irritation, which can darken and dry up the sensitive skin of the lips. So, when you feel your lips drying up, simply take out your lip balm and dab some on to control the urge to lick them.

05. Protect your lips against environmental aggressors

Environmental aggressors like pollution, dirt and extreme temperature can damage your delicate lips, leaving them dry and chapped. That’s why it’s necessary to sweep on a nice lip balm like the Vaseline Lip Therapy Aloe Tin while you’re out and about. The aloe in this lip balm will help lock in the moisture in your lips and keep them soft and smooth, even in harsh weather. You can also cover your lips with a piece of cloth like a scarf while you’re walking through wind or when it is extremely sunny to protect your lips against sun damage.
