How to cleanse your face after a workout and why it’s important

Sweat is salty stuff, and we are sure you already know this. When you allow the sweat to dry on your skin after a workout session, the salt can cause your pores to clog and cause pimples and other unwanted problems. Also salt, by nature, is a drying agent, so you don’t want it sitting on your skin after a workout. So what do you do? A good face wash post your gym session!

If you are a gym junkie and love a good sweat sesh, make sure you wash your face immediately after and prevent workout-related breakouts. And, keep these points in mind! Here are some ways to cleanse your face after workout.

Rule 1:

Apply moisturiser

Head to a good face wash soon after a workout, as you do not want the dirt, sweat and oils to cling to your skin and clog your pores. This is one rule you cannot break.

Use Cleanser

Apply moisturiser

Use a mild cleanser like a milky cleanser or a light gel-based cleanser, and make sure it does not dry your skin.

Wash your face with water

Apply moisturiser

Use lukewarm water to wash your face and finish with a rinse of cool water. Know how cold and warm water affcet your skin differently. The warm water will help clean every last bit of grime and the cold water will help close back the pores.

Pat your skin

Apply moisturiser

Always pat your skin dry

Do not drag the towel on your skin when you wipe your face and suffer from skin irritation . Resort to gentle pats and dry your face and air dry your skin at the end.

Calm your skin with moisturiser

Supply your skin with the ingredients it needs to replenish the moisture and nutrients it has lost due to sweat and apply a soothing moisturiser after your post-gym face wash.
