3 ways to deal with dry eyelids at home

Written by Urvi DalalJul 08, 2020

Dry and flaky skin on the eyelids, also known as, eyelid dermatitis, is a common concern that affects a lot of people, especially those residing in cooler climates. It not only makes the eye area super itchy and sensitive but also makes your eye makeup flake, crease and crack, making it look not-so-appealing.

But here’s some good news – it is possible to treat this condition at home with the right kind of products and a few simple lifestyle tweaks. Here’s what you can do…

01. Moisturise regularly

Just like the rest of your face, applying a moisturising eye cream is the most obvious way to deal with dry eyelids. Look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides, etc.; they help moisturise and nourish the delicate skin around the eyes and help get rid of dry eyelids in no time.

02. Simplify your makeup routine

Another thing that really helps to deal with this issue is applying as little makeup as possible until the raw and flaky skin has healed completely. This is because the preservatives from those products can leave deposits on the delicate skin and cause further irritation.

03. Get enough sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep plays a major role in treating dry and flaky eyelids. How? Well, your body repairs and heals itself when you’re sleeping, which means it will also heal the damaged skin around the eyes. Hence, it’s important to get at least eight hours of sleep every night to get rid of dry eyelids.
