When it comes to skincare and beauty, Koreans are ruling the world. You can’t help but fancy their flawless, almost glass-like skin. But did you know they swear by a 10 minute, 10-step beauty routine day and night? It may sound like a lot to do, but it’s not. The simple steps are extremely effective in improving your skin. Here we explain how you can pull off beautifully smooth skin through a 10-step K-beauty skincare regimen.
- 1. Oil cleansing
- 2. Foam cleansing
- 3. Exfoliate
- 4. Toner
- 5. Essence
- 6. Face serums
- 7. Masks
- 8. Eye cream
- 9. Moisturiser
- 10. Sunscreen
1. Oil cleansing
The first step is to wash your face with oil. Oil cleanses other oil-based particles like SPF and makeup from the face.
2. Foam cleansing
Oil doesn’t wash off sweat and dirt. That’s why you require foam cleansing. Take a foam face wash and massage you face and rinse with water.
Exfoliating skin removes dead skin cells and cleans clogged pores. The result is brighter, softer skin. If you have sensitive skin, exfoliate once a week gently.
After all the washing and cleansing, your skin needs hydration. Toner balances pH levels and preps the skin. Pick a toner and use a cotton pad and lightly dab onto your skin.
Essence is a mix of toner and serum. One of the most important parts of Korean skincare, this treatment with a watery or light cream essence helps in rejuvenating skin and cell turnover. Take a small amount and apply it gently with your hands.
6. Face serums
Koreans introduced the world to face serums and we couldn’t be happier. Serums rid skin of acne, pigmentation and fine lines.
Grab a hydrating sheet mask or brightening clay mask depending on your skin’s requirement. There’s a pool of masks to choose from in the market today, thanks to K-Beauty. Include this step in your routine twice a week.
8. Eye cream
For any under eye concerns like dark circles, puffiness or fine lines, get an eye cream and apply it in light patting motions.
Any beauty regimen is incomplete without this step. You need hydration for plump and supple skin and this step locks in the moisture. Take a moisturiser that best suits your skin and wear it day and night.
Apply sunscreen with a good SPF rating to block UVA and UVB rays and any other environmental aggressors. This step in needed in the mornings and not in the night time.
