Women go through a lot of skin concerns, the biggest one being facial hair and how to get rid of it. Women spend a lot of money and time keeping themselves hair free (in all the right places, of course). LRT gives you few skin tips on how you can rid yourself of facial hair the natural way, so hopefully you don’t have to worry about your weekly threading/waxing appointments—at least for your face.

People normally get their entire face threaded along with their upper lip and eyebrows in an attempt to look to be well groomed. LRT has recommended tweezing brows (and your upper lip) since you can do it yourself and it can be a boon when you are in a hurry. But tweezing your whole face can be a nightmare, and threading or waxing also leaves your face with hair that grows back looking patchy and pokey.

Of course there are a bunch of New Age hair removal treatments available in the market now, but if you are not convinced by them, or you feel they are too expensive, then natural remedies can prove to be quite effective. They can save you money, time and also protect your skin. As in all home remedies, these scrubs can take time to bring you results, so be patient. Even if they are not effective enough for you and you have to end up going in for chemical treatments, you can still rest assured that these scrubs will have no side effects and can contribute alongside your other treatments in getting rid of facial hair.

Good Ole Besan Scrub

Most Indian families will swear by the use of gram flour (besan) for the skin. Make a paste with three parts gram flour, one part lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric (too much turmeric will turn you yellow!) and a tiny bit of yogurt. The paste should be of toothpaste consistency. Apply this all over your face in gentle upward and outward strokes. Avoid the eye area. Keep on for 10 minutes. Once it is mostly dry, dip a sponge or washcloth in water or just wet your palms and slowly rub the besan on your face in circular motions with very little bit of pressure. Then wash off the rest with water.

Sugar Scrub

Mix three parts of fine granulated sugar with one part lemon juice and one part water. Apply this to your face and keep for 10-15 minutes. Rub your face in gentle circular motions, taking extra care around the delicate eye area and then wash it off.

Smell the Coffee!

Coffee can be used on the face as much as for your morning fix! Take 2-3 teaspoons of coffee beans and grind it well. It has to reach a fine granular consistency. To this add one teaspoon fine granulated sugar, one teaspoon honey and few drops of lemon juice. Make a paste (you may need to adjust the ingredients to get a nice consistency), apply it to your face where its hairy and rub in circular motions to exfoliate hair preferably in the opposite direction of hair growth for about 5-7 minutes.

One thing you have to remember when using any of these scrubs – especially the coffee scrub –is to be gentle when you do it. Don’t rub too much so as to not scrape or hurt your delicate facial skin. Rubbing hard or long will not exfoliate the hair any faster, it will only hurt you.

Hope these scrubs work for you and you become free from facial hair soon!
