Skin experts, your BFF, Mom and beauty websites will tell you everything you should do in order to get great skin. And you pretty much follow all the rules, right from a dedicated AM PM skincare routine to regular exfoliation and masking.
But has anyone ever told you what NOT to do if you want good skin? We guess not. Lucky for you, we have a list of things that you should ever do to your skin, no matter what. If you find your habit in the list below, get rid of it ASAP!
- 01. Picking and popping
- 02. Over exfoliating
- 03. Applying lemon
- 04. Sleeping in makeup
- 05. Not wearing sunscreen daily
01. Picking and popping
Trying to treat acne on your own by popping or picking at it is only going to make things worse. Not only will it leave a scar that takes longer to heal and fade, but this will also spread the contents of the pimple to nearby pores leading to more problems.
Allow the pimple to heal on its own pace and keep your hands off!
02. Over exfoliating
While exfoliating in as essential step of any skincare routine, over-exfoliating can lead to skin irritation. Exfoliate your skin not more than twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells and achieve a healthy glow. Anything more than that will interfere with the protective barrier of your skin and lead to redness, especially if you use anti-ageing products that contain AHAs.
03. Applying lemon
A lot of DIYs recommend applying lemon to your face. While a certain amount mixed with the right ingredients can work for some skin types, it does not always work for all skin types. If you have sensitive skin, you should maintain a distance from lemon as it is very acidic in nature and can burn the skin.
04. Sleeping in makeup
Yes, our work schedules are crazy and by the end of the day, the only thing you can see is your bed. But all the dirt, oil and makeup that have accumulated on your skin throughout the day needs to be removed before you rest your head on the pillow at night. Keep cotton pads and micellar water next to your bed so you can quickly wipe off the makeup and skip washing your face once in a while.
05. Not wearing sunscreen daily
Let’s get one thing straight, the use of sunscreen is not limited to beach vacations and summer months. No matter what time of the year, you have to apply sunscreen as if your life depends on it. Once you start doing that, a lot of your skin problems will reduce.
