Rice might not be the most flattering food for your waistline but your skin can definitely benefit from it. Of course, if the Geishas have been using it as one of the oldest beauty routines to keep their skin porcelain smooth, there must be some truth to the matter, right? Here are three ways in which you can incorporate rice (flour, powder, raw) to your beauty diet…
Green tea and rice flour scrub
You will need
1 green tea bag 1 cup of hot water 2 tablespoons of rice flour 1 tablespoon honey
Dip the green tea bag into the hot water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Throw away the tea bag and add the honey and rice flour to the green tea water and mix well into a paste. Apply this on your face and let it stay for a quarter of an hour. Scrub it in circular directions as you wash it off.
Benefits
For everyone who suffers from a bad case of acne or stubborn scars that just won’t go away, this mask makes for a natural cure. Since green tea is rich in antioxidants and has anti-bacterial properties, it helps to fight or fend off acne, while the rice four lightens skin and scars. Honey, as we have already read, is a natural beauty ingredient and hydrates and nourishes the skin.
Fruit and rice powder mask
You will need 2 tablespoons of rice powder 1 orange, peeled ½ an apple, chopped 2 tablespoons of yogurt
Blend the fruits, rice powder and yogurt and turn it into a paste. Apply it on your face and allow it to sit for about half an hour. Wash it off with cold water and then rub an ice cube all over your skin.
Benefits
A face mask for dull and tired skin, this rice and fruit mask is loaded with vitamins and antioxidants that feed the skin and give it a natural glow. The rice flour works to brighten skin as well increase the collagen production in your skin therefore slowing down the ageing process.
Rice and lime water toner
You will need
½ cup rice 1 cup water 2 tablespoons of lime juice
Soak the rice in the water overnight. The next morning, strain the mixture and save the water. Into the water, add the lime juice, stir and place the mixture in the refrigerator for an hour and use it as a toner whenever required.
Benefits
This super easy homemade toner works wonders for oily and acne prone skin. The rice powder is known to control the secretion of excess oil by closing pores and improving the skin tone. Lemon, when used on the skin in moderation, is known to be a skin brightening agent often used in most fairness masks.
